Synopsis:
Russia, 1979. Best friends Dima, Misha and Lena go to summer camp at the sea. Together with them, favorite dog Sava. In the camp they are waiting for exciting adventures, treasure, duel, caves and much more. And, of course, first love with Shakespearean passions…
Alexandr Karpilovskij (1964) is a Russian screenwriter, director and actor. He studied medicine at the Russian State University and has worked as a traumatologist. He later he graduated from the Russian University of Theatre Arts GITIC and in courses in film writing and directing. His directorial work includes feature films, TV movies and TV series, e.g., Snow Angels (Снежный ангел, 2007), Gift of Fate (Подарок судьбы, 2010), My Captain (Мой капитан, 2012) and I Give You My Word (Частное пионерское, 2013).

Synopsis:
May 1968: Rolling Stones, bell-bottoms, mini-skirts, sexual revolution, protests against the Vietnam War… While Germany sets off for a new era of freedom, rebellious fourteen-year-old Wolfgang gets sent to Freistatt, a foster home for difficult children. There he shall be “educated” to become a decent boy. Wolfgang puts up a determined resistance against the brutal working conditions and the perfidious education methods of the wardens; he doesn’t allow them to get him down. But for how long can he manage to resist the system of violence and oppression without brutalising himself? A movie based on true stories, about the merciless fight of a boy to save the last bit of humanity and dignity in an oppressive system of society.
Marc Brummund (born 1970, Diepholz, Lower Saxony, Germany) Studied psychology and journalism at the University of Hamburg as well as documentary film at ZELIG school for TV and film in Bolzano, Italy. Since 1999 director of numerous advertising films in 12 nations with awards in Cannes, Riga, Lisbon and Kiev. Since 2002 regular jury and lecturer jobs. 2004-06 Master Class in film directing at Hamburg Media School. The more than 50 international awards, include Berlinale, German Short Film Award, „Next Generation“Cannes, First Steps Award, Studio Hamburg Young Professionals Award and a nomination for the Student Oscar. Heim, Kühe Schubsen and Land Gewinnen have been selected as one of the best 100 short films of their year by AG Kurzfilm & German Films. Sanctuary is Brummund’s first fiction in feature-film length film.

“SIXTEEN” (USA)

Synopsis:
Sixteen is an urban thriller about an African former child soldier called Jumah who was brought to London by Laura, an aid worker who he now lives with. Jumah is about to turn 16 in two days and wants to leave his violent past behind him. Things seem to have taken a turn for the better with Jumah now; he has a sweet but tentative romance blossoming with a girl at school. But then Jumah witnesses a stabbing and the people involved want to make sure that Jumah says nothing to the police about what he saw that night. Pressure mounts as violence forces its way back into Jumahʼs life.
Rob Brown (United Kingdom), director and screenwriter, graduated from film school in Bournemouth. His short movies have screened at the Edinburgh IFF and on BBC TV. In 2008 Brown was selected to participate in the Think Shoot Distribute program at the 2008 London Film Festival. The short film Silent Things had its premiere at the 40th Rotterdam IFF, where it received a prize. The script for Brown’s first feature film, Sixteen, was chosen for a performed reading at the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum during the Edinburgh IFF in 2011. The movie itself went on screen at last year’s film festival in London.
