An ensemble of the oldest opera house in Europe and temple of Italian opera, Teatro di San Carlo from Naples paid homage to world famous tenor Enrico Caruso with a concert in the Macedonian National Theatre. The concert was organized by the Macedonian Film Agency within the 2nd edition of “Giffoni Macedonia”.
Three tenors, the choir and the instrumental ensemble performed a concert of works by Verdi, Donizetti, Leoncavallo, Puccini, Rossini and Mascagni.
The San Carlo Theatre is one of Naples’ symbols, opened in 1737 and quickly became the venue of the masters, attracting composers like Rossini, Verdi, and Bellini. Neither the fire of 1816 nor severe damages from World War II air raids halted its operations. Both times, the theatre was quickly restored and today is reclaiming its title as one of the most important Opera Houses in the world.
